Together they raised $560 for the BFTF!
Thanks for making us your charity for this event!
Thanks to all of the BFTF Members who made the trip to Washington D.C to honor the Fallen.
This year we added Sergeant James Farrel, Sergeant Dennis Reichardt and Detective Stephen Mullen to the wall.
The SCPD had a great turnout with too many individuals to name. We had the Deputy Police Commissioner,James Skopek and Chief of Department Stuart Cameron join us. We also had our Honor Guard, Motorcycle Unit and Pipe Band participate in the services.
We had numerous department members from the rank and file representing all of the Precincts and many units of the SCPD as well as the PBA, SDA, SOA & BFTF Boards.
Please see our Facebook page for more great pictures.
Sorry if we missed anyone.
This year’s Memorial Service is on Tuesday, May 7th. Both squad 1 and squad 5 are on RDO.
The day trip consists of travel from Hauppauge to Albany and back on a very comfortable luxury bus, a very short ¼ mile march to the Police Memorial in the capitol. This is followed by a dignified service that lasts approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. Everyone then goes to a nearby fellowship that is co-sponsored by the police unions of the SCPD and NCPD. The bus then returns back home. Provisions will be provided on the bus.
There is no cost to members for anything. The bus departs the south lot of the H. Lee Dennison Building on Veterans Highway, Hauppauge at 7:30 A.M. The bus will leave Albany at approximately 4:30 PM to return home.
This may sound like a long day, but it is a rewarding experience and shows the families of the Fallen from the SCPD as well as around New York State that their loved ones are not forgotten. Please join our fellow Officers from around the State on this important day.
The uniform of the day is Class A dress uniform.
Please reply to this email if you are interested in going and/or if you need any additional information. Everyone will get a confirmation reply. Please let us know if your plans change also after you RSVP. We do have a limited number of seats and will need to order the appropriate amount of supplies.
We thank you for your continued support. Please remain diligent in your duties and look out for one another.
